Overview
2013 VIVA ENDOVASCULAR FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM AT THE FOGARTY INSTITUTE FOR INNOVATION
The Advanced Endovascular Fellowship Program at the Fogarty Institute for Innovation is a one-year, non-ACGME, experiential training program that provides broad exposure to all aspects of endovascular patient care, with an emphasis on interventional training. Fellows will be based at the Fogarty Institute for Innovation, located on the El Camino Hospital Campus in Mountain View, CA, and will benefit from immersion within an innovative and entrepreneurial environment that includes a busy clinical trials operation. This unique multi-disciplinary program has been generously subsidized by VIVA Physicians and El Camino Hospital’s Heart & Vascular Institute of El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA.
The Advanced Endovascular Fellowship offers an unrivaled educational and clinical training experience. Fellows will have the opportunity to expand their talent in their chosen field by working side by side with experts in other endovascular specialty areas. Fellows will receive cross-training and extensive endovascular experience in all areas of intervention, including structural heart, carotid intervention, complex aneurysm repair, renal and mesenteric intervention, and all aspects of lower extremity intervention including limb salvage. Participants will be exposed to clinical and advanced imaging aspects of caring for patients with cardiac and vascular disease, and will actively participate in a robust clinical research program. Publication of research efforts is encouraged and Fellows will attend the annual VIVA: Vascular InterVentional Advances conference in October.
The Advanced Endovascular Fellowship offers educational opportunities not typically found in similar training programs. At the Fogarty Institute for Innovation, Fellows are exposed to a dynamic environment to learn practical approaches to medical technology innovation and entrepreneurship. Fellows will have opportunities to engage with early stage medical device companies; providing clinical feedback and learning the process of technology commercialization. Additionally, fellows will learn about the business and systems of a community hospital through special sessions with El Camino Hospital senior leadership.

"Providing vascular care is my passion. Despite my training in Vascular medicine at Mayo clinic and Vascular and Interventional Radiology at St. Luke’s Roosevelt hospital, I could see the gaps in my education that could take very long to fill without the mentorship being offered at Fogarty Institute of Innovation in the Advanced Endovascular Fellowship Program. The volume of complex endovascular cases performed is the envy of most. This Fellowship Program will enable me to provide the latest and the best therapy to my future patients." Raj Pannu |
