Clinical Research

James Joye "Our support for clinical research at the Fogarty Institute will help the hospital attract and retain outstanding and innovative physicians."

– Edward and Pamela Taft

Overview

Clinical research is a vital step in the advancement of novel treatment options. In March 2011, thanks to a generous $4 million contribution from Los Altos Hills residents Edward and Pamela Taft, the Taft Center for Clinical Research was opened. The Taft’s gift was given with their expressed desire to create a community hospital-based setting for important clinical research in oncology and cardiovascular disease. Their support funded the infrastructure and staff that enables us to have a unique relationship with the Fogarty Institute for Innovation and El Camino Hospital. Our portfolio of clinical trials cultivates both local, orginal clinical investigation and industry sponsored trials In this way, the Tafts have made a significant difference in the health of our community.

At the Taft Center, clinical trials are currently being conducted by Fogarty Clinical Research Inc (FCRI) where we strive to assist physicians in the El Camino Hospital community to perform research trials on novel new drugs and devices giving patients access to the latest technological advances to treat disease.

The staff at FCRI is experienced and highly skilled, with many years of expertise in successful clinical trial management organizations. Their expertise coupled with proven track records have enabled the Taft Center to rapidly undertake management of several significant trials.
